Spine title: Negotiations de Jeannin.
Paris, France, 1722.
1 volume (1 leaf, 167 pages) : paper ; 35 x 24 cm.
Title taken from fol. 1r, written by Nicholas Mann.
Volume of letters regarding the negotiations of an alliance between France and the United Provinces in 1607 and 1608. Chielfly composed of letters from Pierre Jeannin (1540-1622), French envoy to the United Provinces, to Nicolas de Neufville, seigneur de Villeroy (1543-1617), Secretary of State. Also includes letters to the king (Henri IV).
Date of production taken from title.
Pages are numbered throughout.
Written in a professional hand.
Occasional annotations in a later hand, possibly Mann's.
A printed copy relating to the negotiations (Les negotiations de Monsieur le President Ieannin. -- Paris : Chez Pierre le Petit, 1656) is at Af.3.07. It also belonged to Mann, and is, presumably, the 'recueil imprimé' which lacks the letters copied here. Af.3.07 also bears an armorial binding of Gaspard Fieubert de Narlac, Sieur de Ligny (1627-94), associating it with MS 186.
Booklabel recording bequest to Eton College by Nicholas Mann in 1754.
Previous shelfmarks: Dg.3.1, Bp.1.11, Bl.5.19.
