Index bibliothecæ Vaticanæ quam [?]rea magna librorum accessio=one [sic] auctam aiunt. manuscript.
Other title: Index bibliothecae Vaticanae quam postea magna librorum accessione auctam aiunt.
Oxford, England, 1710s.
1 volume (83 leaves) : paper ; 33 x 21 cm.
Caption title, with parallel title in Greek. A portion of the fifth word is not clear, but reads 'postea' in other manuscript catalogues of the Vatican's Greek holdings.
According to Paul Quarrie, a copy of Bodleian MS Selden B 6 ff. 72-135 (see Quarrie, 'Richard Topham of Windsor and his library', Evtopia, 2:1 (1993), p. 13) by Joseph Bowles. No internal evidence to show that Bowles was copyist, but the colophon preceding the index gives the same text as that mentioned in the Summary Catalogue of the Bodleian's western manuscripts.
Place and date of production inferred from the ascribed copying from a manuscript in the Bodleian for Richard Topham.
The main text is paginated, 1-144.
The colophon appears at the tail of p. 144, in Richard Topham's hand. No stamp of Topham's evident. Listed by Topham in Finding Aid 4, fol. 80r.
Includes an alphabetical index following the main text.
