MS 283
Law reports from the King's Bench and the Court of the Exchequer Chamber for the years 1664-1668. manuscript.
London, England, 1670s?
1 volume (153 leaves) : paper ; 25 x 19 cm.
Devised title.
Author inferred from an enclosed note in a 18th century hand: M.S. book. Baron Hatsell's. For Mrs Powys's family. Hatsell's biography as a student at Middle Temple in the 1660s corroborates this attribution.
Place and place of production inferred from note by the author on front flyleaf, which notes that this volume was copied from one belonging to a Mr Rowe of Middle Temple, who in turn had copied it from Hatsell's original written 'when I was a young Student'. The original was 'stoln out of my Study', which caused Hatsell to have it recopied from Rowe's transcription.
Dates of the cases given in regnal years for Charles II at the head of each page.
Paginated in ink throughout.
Pages ruled in red ink.
Written in a professional hand.
Includes several indexes to cases in the front leaves.
