A catalogue of some of the portraits of Woburn Abbey together with biographical notes. There are other manuscript copies, including one at University of Manchester Library (HAM/3/5) which attributes the work to Walpole. Printed in 1800 (ESTC T63189).
Written in an unidentified hand. The Eton short-title catalogue names Thomas Kirgate (1734-1810) as the copyist, but no evidence found in the manuscript.
With the exception of the first leaf, each leaf is only written on the recto.
The main text is foliated in ink, 1-12. Blank leaves at front and rear of volume.
Enclosed: a letter to Francis Warre-Cornish as Vice-Provost from Lionel Cust, dated March 1915, accompanying an offcut of Cust's article on Marcus Gheeraerts for the Walpole Society.
20th century half parchment; boards covered in pale blue paper; title stamped in black on spine. Earlier blue wrapper preserved in binding.
