A general introduction to heraldry in English including terms. The final section, 'Common charges borne in coats of arms', is illustrated with examples from English families.
Place of production inferred from the content. Date of production inferred from the hand and from an anonymous note on the front pastedown: circa 1810.
Fol. 26 onwards are blank leaves.
Seems to have been copied from an earlier text: fol. 23r includes a sentence reading: 'This family has from the reign of Edward 1st to the present year 1678 maried into 4 noble families...'.
Illustrated with armorial devices in colour.
Pages ruled in black ink.
