First title-page printed in red and black, with a cross formed of type ornaments at the centre.
Both title-pages within an identical woodcut architectural border, but the caduceus in the escutcheon of the second title-page has been removed.
Text printed in two different type sizes, with larger initials throughout.
Imprint date taken from STC.
Ownership inscription on verso of fol. i of first section: 'Iste liber pertinet ad me George Northern', with series of names witnessing this statement 'et multis alijs in schola Etone'.
Inscription on title-page of second section: 'Robert Caudrey est possor [sic] m[eum?]'. And 'Robert caudrey gave thys boke'.
Armorial binding of George Leveson-Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland (1758-1833).
According to Robert Birley's notes, this volume was purchased from Bernard Quaritch in 1933 and given to College Library by Sir. J.H. Noble.
Mid nineteenth-century dark brown calf; blind tooled panels of zigzag roll and double fillet; gold stamped armorial device of George Leveson-Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland as centrepiece; blind stamped decoration and gold stamped title on spine; four raised bands; red and brown sprinkled edges.
Copious notes in various sixteenth century hands throughout. Includes musical notation on four line stave both above and below printed text.
Seems to lack final three leaves.
