John Dotyn, d. 1561, rector of Aveton Gifford in Devon, purchased this book in London for six shillings on 18th July 1558. Dotyn was admitted BA of Exeter College Oxford in 1524. Contemporary English dark brown calf; two concentric frames of blind tooled triple fillet, the inner having small fleurons at the corners; blind tooled central ornament of two arabesque stamps; holes for ties in each board; blind tooled double fillet on spine, with compartments of hatching at head and tail; red morocco spine label with gold tooled double fillet and title; mend at head of spine using vellum; five raised bands; faintly sprinkled edges; title written horizontally on fore-edge.
