Engraved armorial bookplate of Eton College on title-page verso.
Late 16th or early 17th century dark brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on four alum-tawed supports; bound in England, possibly by Williamson of Eton. On both covers, an outer border of triple fillets (blind-gilt-blind), intersecting at corners; medium squares, the board edges tooled with a single blind fillet. Spine with four raised bands, tooled aside with thick gilt single fillets (double at head and tail); panels with a central gilt foliate stamp (approx. 15 x 15 mm), with repeated blind impressiosn of the same tool across the raised bands; endbands of plain thread. Textblock trimmed and heavily sprinkled red. Endpapers comprising leaves of plain laid paper (pastedown and flyleaves) with stubs visible under pastedown.
