Dedicatory letter to King James VI & I signed by Sir William Segar (c.1554-1633), Garter King of Arms.
Date of production taken from the title and the dedicatory letter.
Main text is written in professional English italic and roman hands.
Leaves are numbered in pencil in a modern hand. The first four leaves and final two leaves are blank.
Leaves double ruled in red; ruled in dry point; written in blank ink with some illumination in gold.
The verso of each leaf bears a list of titles; the facing recto bears an illuminated image of the related arms.
Booklabel of Storer bequest, recording bequest by Anthony Morris Storer to Eton College Library in 1800. The number 321 on leaf i recto may relate to Storer's collection.
Catalogued by hand by M.R. James in the interleaved James 1895 catalogue (Eton MS 932). According to this, the manuscript was previously shelved with Storer's books at Ch.1.2.10.
According to the catalogue record in MS 932, the volume was bound in red velvet with ribbons 'of Garter blue'. This binding was replaced by Richard Day in the late 20th or early 21st century: Stiff boards covered in dull red velvet cloth; green ribbon ties; small paper label printed with garter emblem adhered to spine, presumably from earlier binding; fresh endpapers; gilt edges.
