Date and place of production inferred from the nature of the contents and style of handwriting.
The original manuscript consists of 10 leaves which have been attached to guards and interleaved. The other leaves are blank.
Consists of alphabetical lists of families and their homes, together with a description of their arms. The final two leaves bear ink drawings of the arms of the city of Exeter and of the company of merchant taylors of Exeter.
Pricking along edges visible; ruled in pencil throughout.
Note on verso of final leaf of original manuscript, dating the manuscript to c. 1572 due to internal evidence: 'Tis probable this is a copy of ye visitation of Devon by Cook [i.e. Robert Cooke, Clarenceux King of Arms 1568-1593) Herald in 1572. 15th additions. The last visitation to this county was in 1620.'.
