Late 16th to early 17th century dark calf over pasteboard, sewn on five alum tawed supports, possibly at Oxford. On both covers, a blind-stamped centrepiece (very similar to Pearson Centrepiece xiv though with a different pattern in the central oval) with a border of blind triple fillets (thin-thick-thin) intersecting at corners; faint traces of a single blind fillet on board edges. Spine with five raised bands, tooled across and beside with transvere blind fillets; diagonal hatching at head and tail of spine; c. 18th century red morocco label with gilt titling. Textblock trimmed and ?dyed yellow; manuscript "10" at head of fore-edge. Endpapers with watermark of crowned portcullis. Previously described as an 18th century binding.
