Quasi-armorial bookplate of Mary Hunter, Hill Hall, Theydon Mount and with her ownership inscription on front cover. Charles Hunter and his wife Mary Hunter (née Smyth) were friends of Henry James, and Mary introduced Baring to her sister Ethel Smyth who became a lifelong friend, after hearing her Mass in D at the Royal Albert Hall in January 1893.
