Two works by Maffeo Vegio: an abbreviation of De liberis educandis (ff. 1-84) in six books, and Contentio inter terram Aurum et Solem de prestantia coram Joue (ff. 85-119); ff. 84v and 119v are blank, and f. iii is a contemporary paper flyleaf.
De liberis educandis was first printed in 1491 (Hain 159020) and the Contentio in 1497 (Hain 15933).
The six books of De liberis educandis have headings, mostly in red: "Epithoma libri secundi", f. 18; "Epithoma libri tertii feliciter lege," f. 29; and ff. 35v, 54v, 69v.
Colophon on f. 84: Rome apud Sanctum petrum nono Kal. Januarij MCCCCXLIIII. tempus quo Mafeus librum feliciter edidit.
Written space: 140 x 75 mm.
23-26 long lines.
Vertical bounders made by folding the leaf on each side of the written space.
Collation: 1-9¹² 10¹² wants 12, unless it is the present f. iii.
Written in current hybrida under humanistic influence.
Red initials in the margins of ff. 1, 18; none elsewhere.

Rebound at Eton around 1720.
