Quarto volume containing 36 autograph letters of Provost Joseph Goodall to G. B. Sowerby.

According to a note by M. R. James in the interleaved, annotated copy of his Descriptive catalogue at ECL (MS 932), Provost Goodall's collection of shells was housed in a room cut off from the south end of Election Hall at Eton; in 1819 he purchased for £200 a collection of 3275 drawings of shells made by Charles Wodarch for Napoleon Bonaparte, which was resold in 1896.
Some intact seals preserved.
