Contemporary English speckled calf over pasteboard. On both covers, an outermost border of blind double fillets intersecting at corners, with a vertical double fillet tooled parallel to the spine (approx. 30mm away) but otherwise plain; board edges probably tooled with a patterned roll, but now heavily worn. Spine sewn on five supports, the headbands thereof forming six compartments, each gold-tooled with a central foliate tool framed by small cornerpieces, all within double fillets; the gilt faded and the lowermost compartment missing, exposing gatherings and stitched supports. Headbands of alternating blue and plain thread. Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red; endpapers comprised of a folded bifolium, pasted down leaving one free; undecorated; the lower free endpaper missing.
Imperfect: wanting first blank leaf (evidence of tearing and removal).
