19th-century panelled brown calfskin over millboards. Covers with gilt double fillets and blind tooled board edges. Spine flat with gilt tools, fillets and titling over black labels ("Peregrine Pickle"; "Vol. [number]"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated wove paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
Label on front endpaper or flyleaf: "Not to be taken out of the Library" (v.1, 2).
