Written space: 280 x 190 mm.
Layout: 2 columns of 43 lines. Ruling with a hard point, the horizontal lines often reinforced in pencil.
Collation: 1-20⁸ 21⁸ wants 1,2 before f. 161 22-25⁸ 26¹⁰ wants 10, blank.
Script: probably in two hands, changing for the better at f. 120 (16¹): the punctuation by this point has often been altered to a short horizontal line.
Initials of books 1-16 in a handsome style used at Reading, mainly blue with ornament in green and red; the initial of the introductory letter (f. 1) has been cut out. See J. R. Liddell in Bodleian Quarterly Record 8 (1935), p. 49.
Marginal illustrations: pencilled caricatures in the margins of ff. 63 and 131.

A strip has been cut from the foot of f. 1.
Identifiable by the opening words of the second leaf with no. (21) in the list of books 'que per anni ciculum legende sunt siue in ecclesia priuatim noctibus siue in refectorio' at Reading in the 14th century; see Liddell, op. cit., p. 49.
