The plates consist of steel-engravings and lithographs after drawings by J. Ross (some signed as printed by Graf and Soret, James Yates, Gaywood and Co., Wilkinson and Co. or "McQ" (i.e. B.W. McQueen); plates [11-13] are signed "Printed in Colours by J. Lahee").
"[Printed by] C. Whiting ..." - verso of title-leaf.
"Plates paged for the binder" -- list of plates p. [xxxiv], which assigns the numbers 1-30 (plate [29] actually being two plates).
The fourth leaf bears errata, and is sometimes absent.
A separate Appendix was published later in 1835.

19th-century blue cloth over millboards. Covers have a blind pattern. Spine flat with gilt titling ("Sir J. Ross's Arctic expedition 1829-1833"); damage at the head shows spine was reinforced with printed book waste. Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated wove paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock.
