Binding

Contemporary tree-calf over millboard. On both covers, a gilt initial or monogram; narrow squares, board edges tooled with a hatcheting-effect gilt roll. Spine smooth, divided into panels by transverse gilt fillets; onlaid labels of green morocco (gilt titling and vol. number over green morocco). Textblock trimmed and ?sprinkled. Endpapers comprising marbled paper (pastedown and flyleaf) and plain wove paper (two flyleaves).

Vol. 1: Manuscript ?signature in a 19th century hand, struck through in the same hand, unread. Vol. 3: the same signature on title-page, unread. All vols.: other signatures on title-page, unread.
