18th-century brown "cat-paw" sprinkled calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with blind triple fillets to form a border; double gilt fillets on board-edges; gilt tools on turn-ins. Spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt tools, fillets, and titling over red label ("Essai geograph"). Textblock trimmed and marbled. Endpapers of marbled paper (pastedowns and facing flyleaves); two additional flyleaves of undecorated paper at the upper end of the textblock and one at the lower end.
