Binding
17th century mid-brown speckled calf over pasteboard, sewn on four supports; spine linings visible under pastedowns; ?Dutch binding. Both covers undecorated; medium squares. Spine with four raised bands, tooled across with a gilt ornamental roll; panels with gilt ornamental-foliate tools (angled tools forming a frame, within which a central fleuron flanked by small sexfoils); transverse ornamental rolls at head and tail; second panel decorated only with gilt lettering ("BVRGVNDI HISTORIA BELGICA") now very faded; endbands of alternating blue and brown thread. Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red and green. Endpapers comprising a bifolium of plain contemporary paper (pastedown and flyleaf) with paper stubs under pastedown.
