Black bookplate of Eton College Library, undated, with college crest and initials "RS" (Reynolds Stone) on first flyleaf. A pencil note reads "1992".
Late 18th-century quarter-bound calfskin and marbled paper over pasteboards. Covers decorated with gilt dotted roll separating leather from paper. Spine flat, decorated with gilt rolls, tools and titling over red morocco label ("Gilpin's forest scenery"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of purple (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated laid paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
