18th-century calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with a gilt fillet to form a border, single gilt fillets on board edges and turn-ins. Spine flat, decorated with gilt fillets and titling (now faded: "Hogarth's anecdots"), modern shelf label ("Geᵃ.5.5"). Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
