19th-century dark brown morocco over mill/pasteboards bound by Hayday. Covers decorated with blind fillets and roll to form a border; blind lozenge pattern with fleurons in each compartment; blind flower tools at the corners. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with blind fillets forming a lozenge pattern; gilt titling ("Siege of Carlaverock"; "Nicolas."; "London MDCCCXXVIII"). Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
Coats of arms are hand-painted.
