19th-century quarter-bound calfskin and marbled paper over mill/pasteboards. Covers undecorated. Spine flat decorated with gilt fillets, tools and titling ("Heral[...] not[...]"), damaged at the head. Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
Ms. note in J.R. Smith's hand on the rear second flyleaf, regarding family genealogy and heraldry, also dated 1851.
