(Copy 1) ?17th-century sheepskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with double blind fillets to form a border (now damaged). Spine rebacked with four raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets and titling over black label ("Honor redivivus -- Carter"; "1655"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock.
(Copy 2) 18th-century marbled calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with double gilt fillets to form a border; gilt roll to form a panel with tools at the outer corners; gilt roll on board edges. Spine with four raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets and tools. Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of undecorated wove paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
(Copy 1) Numerous ms. notes in a 17th-century hand on the title page, front and rear flyleaves in different hands. They include an index of names mentioned in the text, notes, sketches of coats of arms, and recipes.
(Copy 2) The imprint does not include information about the booksellers. Pen trials on front flyleaf. Loose card catalogue information inserted in the volume.
