(Copy 1) Bookplate of Evelyn Philip Shirley with motto "honor virtutis præmium", undated, on front pastedown. Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front flyleaf. Armorial bookplate of William Cole of King's College Cambridge, glued on [par]5 recto. 16th-century ms. note on rear flyleaf: "M[iste]r Adryan Thorpe, betwene moregate and Bishops gate".

(Copy 2) Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front pastedown. Bookplate of F.H.T. Streatfeild (19th century) on front pastedown; his ms. signature on front flyleaf. Ms. note on front flyleaf: "J. Burrell Given to me by John Sparrow".

Binding

(Copy 1) ?16th-century calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with blind fillets to form a border and a panel; tools in the shape of eagles on the outer corners of the panel; blind centrepiece. Spine with four raised bands, decorated with blind fillets and gilt titling over red label ("Leghs [sic] heraldry"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock; manuscript waste visible at the lower end of the textblock.

(Copy 2) ?16th-century calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with double blind fillets to form a border and two concentric panels with tools at the outer corners. Spine with four raised bands, decorated with gilt tools and titling ("Leigh's accedens of armory"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock.

(Copy 1) 16th-century ms. notes throughout, mostly in one hand. Later note on front flyleaf listing editions of this work. Ms. note on rear pastedown: "W Longe". Manuscript waste written in gothic script. Former ECL shelfmark: Gp.7.07.

(Copy 2) Ms. notes (mostly signposts) throughout, but especially leaves 1-88, in a 16th-century hand. Some of the coats of arms are hand-painted. Ms. inscription on first blank leaf: "Leigh's accedens of armory". Sale catalogue entry glued on front pastedown.
