(Copy 2) ?18th-century quarter-bound calfskin and marbled paper over pasteboards. Covers undecorated. Spine flat and rebacked, decorated with gilt titling ("Elements of armories. 1610."). Textblock trimmed and sprinkled ?green. Endpapers of undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
(Copy 3) ?20th-century speckled light brown calfskin over ?millboards. Covers decorated with blind roll to form a border. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with blind roll and tools, gilt titling over red label ("Bolton's Elements of armories"). Textblock trimmed and dyed red. Endpapers of undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
(Copy 1) 17th-century ms. note on rear flyleaf recto. 18th-century ms. note in William Cole's hand on title page verso. Most of the coats of arms have been hand-painted.
(Copy 2) Bookseller's advertisement for this copy glued yto fron pastedown. Ms. notes regarding the Cambrige bookplate on front flyleaf. The printed flower design of the coat of arms on p. 198 has been sewn onto the page.
