19th-century ‘Panshanger’ bookplate of the Earls of Cowper with coronet and two letter Cs interlaced on front pastedown.
Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front flyleaf.
18th/19th-century mottled calfskin over mill/pasteboards. Covers decorated with gilted roll to form a border. Spine with four raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets and titling over damaged black label ("[E]nglish [hi]story"). Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red. Endpapers of undecorated laid paper; two flyleavesat both ends of the textblock; the flyleaf facing the rear pastedown is a stub that has been glued to it.
