(Copy 1) 19th-century armorial bookplate of Charles Arthur Wynne Finch and also of Charles George Young Garter with motto "nullius in verba" on front pastedown. Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front flyleaf. Ms. signature on front flyleaf: "Edm[un]d Waterton". Ms. signatures on [pi]2 verso: "W[illia]m Burrell"; "Jacobi Joye".
(Copy 2) Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front pastedown. The binding presents a coat of arms identified as that of antiquary Ralph Sheldon (1623-1684), son of William Sheldon of Beoley, Worcestershire. Ms. inscription on front flyleaf has been trimmed and no longer reveals the name of this book's donor: "Ex dono domini Ant : a". The book was sold by Ellis booksellers, as documented by correspondence dated November 1938 that is inserted in the volume.
(Copy 1) ?19th-century armorial binding: speckled calfskin over mill/pasteboards. Covers decorated with double gilt fillets to form a border; centrepiece is a dragon and the initials CGY below it. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt titling over black label ("Catalogus de re heraldica"). Textblock trimmed and dyed red. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated laid paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
(Copy 2) 17th-century calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with double blind fillets to form a border with tools at the corners; additional double blind line near the left margin; centrepiece is gilted arms of Sheldon family; single blind fillet and roll on board edges. Spine flat and undecorated. Textblock trimmed and dyed red. Endpapers of undecorated laid paper; one flyleaf at upper end of the textblock, two at the lower end.
