Endpapers of undecorated laid paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock; no pastedowns.

Covers decorated with gilt roll to form a border; centrepiece is a rounded stamp with a coat of arms of Evelyn Philip Shirley with inscription "je suis loyal"; gilt fillets on board edges; gilt roll on turn-ins. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets, tools and titling ("Ferne's blazon of gentrie"; "Lond. 1586"). Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
