17th-century calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with double gilt fillets to form a border; centrepiece is the coat of arms of Léonore d'Étampes de Valençay. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets, tools, and titling ("Le civil convers.di Stef. Guazzo."). Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red. Endpapers of undecorated laid paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock. Ms. and printed waste under pastedowns. The manuscript fragment is from a musical manuscript written in Gothic textualis, with initials that seem to date from the 15th century. The printed fragment has hand-painted initials, and is possibly from an incunable.
