18th-century laced-case vellum over pasteboards. Covers decorated with gilted double fillets to form a border with tools at the corners; gilt centrepiece. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets, tools, and titling over brown label ("Bibliotheca Smithiana -- Venetiis 1755"). Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; three flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
