19th-century quarter-bound brown ?morocco and marbled paper by R. Robinson & Co. binders (Newcastle upon Tyne); ticket on front pastedown. Covers decorated with blind roll separating leather from paper. Spine flat, decorated with gilt fillets and titling ("St Nicholas cathedral"; "Armorial bearings -- Vols. 1-2", "1820"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock.
Loose cut out card from invitation to Lord Mayor etc. with unidentified coat of arms.
Some coats of arms have been hand-painted.
