The New Testament has a separate titlepage dated 1638; the pagination and register are continuous.
Both titles are within the [ornamental] border with heart-shaped centre; the general title has a cut of the royal arms on the verso. A cut of Adam and Eve occurs before Genesis (Darlow & Moule).

Ex dono label of Joseph Frederick Burrell, dated 1983, on front pastedown.
Three bookplates of Thomas Makdougall Brisbane Bart of Brisbane and Makerstoun, all of which include motto "certamine summo", on front pastedown and flyleaf. One of those on the flyleaf depicts a heron with a snake in its beak, the other includes a coat of arms with the same heron above it and two dogs on either side of the arms. That on the pastedown includes slightly different arms with the same dogs, with the heron accompanied by a lion and a ram. A fourth bookplate appears on the following flyleaf.

?17th-century black calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with gilt fillet to form a border; blind rolls fill the space between the fillet and a central panel, which displays the same style of motifs as the rolls; gilt rolls on board edges and turn-ins. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets and dotted rolls, blind tools, and gilt titling ("Holy Bible."; "1637"). Textblock trimmed and marbled. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
