"A treatise of hunting" and "The booke of armorie" each have separate dated title page with imprint "London printed by Valentine Sims for Humfrey Lownes, and are to be sold at his shop in Paules church-yard. 1595" on leaves I1r and M1r respectively; foliation and register are continuous.
Some copies have the illustration on leaf 57r cancelled.
Ornaments on all title pages, head- and tail-pieces, decorated initials.

20th-century quarter-bound calfskin and marbled paper by Charles McLeish, dated June 1954. Covers undecorated. Spine with two raised bands, decorated with gilt titling ("Berners' Gentleman's academy -- 1595"). Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red. Endpapers of modern laid paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
Imperfect: starts with leaf 29, i.e. the title oage of "A treatise of hunting". It also lacks leaves 62, 63.
Imperfect: Many leaves in "The gentlemans academie" are misnumbered.
