Scope and content: The archive is an "extensive collection of poems (typescripts, photocopies and some printed anthologies), with occasional related correspondence and other documents, written by British/Commonwealth armed forces personnel during or subsequent to the Second World War and recording or reflecting their experiences of warfare, with particular regard to the Middle East, where the initiative to collect and selectively publish such material originated ('Oasis: The Middle East Anthology of Poetry from the Forces', Salamander Society 1943) - the present archive is the result of that and subsequent collecting activity by the Salamander Oasis Trust, which published a series of further anthologies during the 1980s and 1990s ('Return To Oasis', 'More Poems of the Second World War', 'The Voice of War' etc)" -- Imperial War Museum website.
