Provenance

Plain label of Eton College Library, with red initials, on front pastedown of all volumes. Label of Grant & Bolton booksellers, Dublin on the upper flyleaf of volume 1 only.

Binding

19th-century polished ?calfskin over paste/millboards. Covers decorated with double gilt fillets to form a border, a blind-stamped roll made of tools, also making a border; the rest of the cover blind-stamped with a criss-cross of fillets; gilt rolls on board edges and turn-ins. Spine rebacked, decorated with gilt fillets and tools. Textblock trimmed and marbled. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing leaves) and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
