Provenance

Both volumes: armorial bookplate of Arthur G. Soames, engraving dated 1899, on front pastedown. Stamp with eagle and lion and name Iltyd Nicholl on front flyleaf recto, Eton School Library booklabel on the verso.

Binding

19th-century half-bound red morocco and marbled paper over paste/millboards. Covers decorated with double blind fillets between paper and leather. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt tolls and titling. Textblock trimmed and marbled. Endpapers of marbled and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
