Contents: Letter concerning Bell's son Matthew returning to Eton. He thanks Coleridge for the care he has taken in looking after him, continuing to discuss Matthew's future, and the intention of sending him to Trinity [College Cambridge]. Full transcription available.
Scope and content: ALS from John Bell (1764-1836), barrister and equity lawyer, to an addressee assumed to be Edward Coleridge (1800-1883), Fellow of Eton, based on Eton Entrance Book. Matthew Bell, John's son, entered Eton on 26 April 1830, and later joined Trinity College Cambridge on 6 July 1833. He died in 1903.
