Heavy paper pocket laid down on endpaper containing 3 autograph letters and a postcard from Christopher Hobhouse: (1) undated letter on 12 Arlington Street S.W.1 stationery, thanking Magnus for sending his book on Edmund Burke [published 1939]; (2) undated postcard of Florence (postmark 1939-04-14); (3) letter dated 19 June [1940?] on Eastney Barracks Southsea stationery (6 pp.); (4) letter dated "Wednesday" on Eastney Barracks Southsea stationery (2 p.).
20th century quarter vellum binding; gilt-lettered spine; marbled paper boards.
Calligraphic inscription on title page verso: "Number 7 of thirty specially bound & illustrated copies".
With two black and white photographs bound-in, with handwritten ink captions initialled by the photographer "J. G. M." [i.e. John Murray VI]; one of a bust of Hobhouse "like him, a war casualty" by Homer Harris and the other of Hobhouse "at the Mill".
