Text said to be based on materials left by Thomas Falconer's uncle, Thomas Falconer (1738-1792) (cf. ODNB).
The plates consist chiefly of folded maps, as listed on leaf g2 recto (where they are assigned the numbers I-XVII, with two plates for number I). Engravers include Guillaume de la Haye and Thomas Conder.
According to Lowndes, large paper copies were available.

19th-century polished calfskin over ?millboards. Covers decorated with triple gilt fillets to form a border; blind roll on board edges. Spine with six raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets and titling over light brown labels. Textblock rounded and sprinkled brown. Endpapers of undecorated paper; three flyleaves at the upper end of the textblock, two at the lower end (v.1) two at both ends (v.2).
