[127] leaves : ill. ; 54 cm.
Cataloguer devised title.
Collection of engravings of kings, clergy and nobility from England as well as buildings, monuments, precious objects, and seals. All dated from the 18th century and mounted on blue grey sugar paper.
Most engravings signed: "G. Vertue sculp.".
It is possible that the volume came to ECL through the Storer bequest of 1799, given the similarity to the Granger volumes. However, no Storer label is found in the volume. Armorial bookplate of Eton College with initials "HR" for Henricus Rex on front pastedown.
?18th-century half-bound marbled paper and speckled pigskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with blind rolls to seprate paper from leather. Spine flat, with blind fillets and gilt titling ("Engravings by G. Vertue"). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated paper; one flyleaf at both ends of the textblock.
Former ECL shelfmark: Cf.1.08 (in the same bay as Granger volumes). A ms. note signed RBD informs: "PLS [i.e. Patrick Strong, former archivist] considers this vol. is probably Storer ... Shelved in Cf1.8 in March 72".
