Engraved title page shows Francis Bacon sitting at the table on the left and pointing to Occasio; three scholars on the right. "It is noteworthy that only in the engraved title page of the first edition, 1641 [cf. Keynes.A.08.16], does the figure of Bacon appear on the right of the plate (at table, pointing to Occasio). In all later editions the plate is copied in reverse, with Bacon on the left." (Gibson 51). Title within table cloth and imprint in cartouche underneath. Engraved by C. V. Dalen.
