He discusses historical temperature scales by Celsius, de l'Isle, and Linnaeus and says that he includes a photocopy of a summary of a biography of Celsius by N.V. Nordenstam. Stearn mentions his work on the Bicentenary History of the Linnean Society, updates on Clusius drawings found in Kraków, preparations for a new edition of Arber’s Herbals with supplements and expanded bibliography, and disruptions to The Art of Botanical Illustration.
