18th century bookplate of Eton College on title-page verso.
Early 16th century dark brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on five supports (rebacked), bound in England. On both covers, a gilt centrepiece within a frame comprised of three fillets (blind-gilt-blind) with gilt foliate stamps an outer corners; outer border of fillets to the same pattern; board edges hatcheted at head and tail with blind diagonal fillets terminating in transverse double fillets. Spine repaired (with similar tools?); date unknown. Textblock trimmed and ?dyed yellow. Endpapers comprising a single bifolium (pastedown and flyleaf) with paper stubs. Chain mark at tail end of fore-edge on upper cover.

Slip of wove paper, loosely inserted, on which is written "Hist: Belgica: cu[m] figuris" in a ?17th century hand? Stub retained during rebacking / repairing?
