Observations and inquiries relating to various parts of ancient history; containing dissertations on the wind Euroclydon, and on the island Melite, together with an account of Egypt in its most early state, and of the Shepherd Kings: wherein the time of their coming, the province which they particularly possessed, and to which the Israelites afterwards succeeded, is endeavoured to be stated. [Ft.2.10] Ms. inscription on t.p.: Ex dono eruditissimi viri Jac: Bryant. Marlborough 1767. The dedicatee was George Spencer (1739-1817), 4th Duke of Marlborough, whom Bryant had privately tutored, having also been secretary to the 3rd Duke.

[Ft.2.10] 18th century straight-grained red goatskin; covers and spine compartments with gilt triple fillet borders with roundels at the corners; five raised bands; green goatskin spine label; repeated pallet of a trailing stem at head and foot; gilt fillet on board edges; gilt floral roll on turn-ins; marbled endleaves; gilt edges. Binding attributed to Roger Payne by a previous owner.
