An arch in the centre divides the sarcophagus into two scenes. On the far left sits Phaedra flanked by two putti. The right half shows a boar hunt. Hippolytus and two horsemen ride to the attack as the boar emerges from a cave far right behind a tree. Above sits a genius loci.
