Description

Content (description)

In centre two putti lead Luna from her chariot to right. A tall winged female holds the reins of her prancing horses on left. Tellus and a dog recline beneath their hooves, while a putto flies by their heads and two small figures (nymphs?) are to be seen high over their backs. Endymion lies asleep on right at the foot of a tree, his dog by him. A putto stands by him and Psyche appears over rocks by his head. A putto (?) reclines on a rock in the upper field between Psyche and Luna. On far left Luna departs in her biga over the reclining figure of a river god. The winged female has just released the reins and a putto flies with the horses. A shepherd sits on far left with a dog at his feet and three sheep/goats on a rock line above his head.
