Description
Six fluted pillars, their capitals decorated with garlands slung between rams' heads, support five shallow arches. Over each capital a putto blows a shell horn. In each arch are two figures. On left, two putti, wearing cloaks and carrying staffs, and one of them carrying a helmet, turn towards one another. Then nude Cupid and draped Psyche embrace and kiss. Draped Venus, with one foot slightly raised on a rock, holds out her arm to nude Mars, who has a helmet, cloak, spear and shield belt. In the next arch, Mars, nude but with helmet, cloak, spear and shield, flies down from left to Rhea, who reclines draped on the ground; a bearded nude male stands by her head and looks up at Mars. on right stand a half-draped nymph with an urn, her legs crossed, and a rustic bearded male wearing a tunic, cloak and garland, and holding a pedum.
